MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara, appointed as the General Secretary of the new United National Party (UNP) led alliance, should be approved by the UNP Working Committee, MP Ajith Mannapperuma said.
The United National Front (UNF) has decided to appoint MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara as the new General Secretary of the UNF last Monday during an electoral organiser’s meeting of the UNP chaired by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa. Sources said the decision to name Madduma Bandara as the General Secretary was taken during a UNP parliamentary group meeting held last morning.
Accordingly the proposal to appoint MP Madduma Bandara as the new General Secretary of the alliance was tabled by MP Ashok Abeysinghe ratified by MP Thushara Indunil Amarasena. When Mannapperuma was asked about the validity of this appointment, he said that the proposal should be confirmed at the Working Committee meeting scheduled for next Monday.
Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa himself named MP Madduma Bandara as the General Secretary of the UNF.
