Probe into deaths in Mount Lavinia, Minuwangoda

Mount Lavinia Police have launched investigations into the death of a person during a brawl at a club at Saram Road, Mount Lavinia between 4.15 a.m. and 6.15 a.m. yesterday (3). The 31-year-old victim is a resident of Galle Road, Horethuduwa. The body is kept at the Kalubowila Hospital morgue. Investigations are being carried out.

Meanwhile, the Police Headquarters said two persons who had hired a three-wheeler from Minuwangoda had attacked the taxi driver with a sharp weapon near an abandoned land near Monta junction between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Sunday (2) and fled after grabbing Rs. 1,000 from the taxi driver.

The taxi driver who was found in a critical condition had been admitted to a Ja-Ela hospital by officers of the Ja-Ela Police on mobile patrol. The taxi driver had succumbed to his injuries after being transferred to the Ragama Hospital.

The deceased was identified as a 67-year-old resident at Ambagahawatta, Gampaha road, Minuwangoda.
