Civil Aviation DG thanks airport for selfless service

Civil Aviation Director General H.M.C.Nimalsiri highly appreciated the selfless service rendered by the Airport staff at this hour without concern for their own personal safety.

He said attention will be drawn towards measures which could be taken for their safety as well.

He was addressing a meeting held at the Civil Aviation Authority premises to further streamline and consolidate measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Sri Lanka recently.

Chairman of the Authority Upul Dharmadasa presided.

A media statement by the Civil Aviation Authority said an accelerated programme had already been launched jointly by all parties connected to civil aviation in coordination with the health authorities to prevent the spread of the coronavirus through airline passengers. Under this programme priority was given to passengers arriving in Sri Lanka in local and foreign airlines from virus affected countries. Attention was also drawn towards action to be taken regarding any virus infected passengers arriving in the country as well as action to be taken regarding Sri Lankans still staying in China.

The statement added that an awareness programme had also been launched at the Airport for in and outbound passengers on personal hygiene measures to be taken to protect themselves from the virus.
