A free bus service from the Katunayake Railway Station to the Airport premises for the convenience of air passengers coming to board flights to foreign destinations was inaugurated by Airport and Aviation Services Ltd Chairman Maj. Gen. (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri on January 30 afternoon.

Two air conditioned buses will operate round the clock under this service. This follows instructions given by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa during a recent fact finding tour to the Airport.

It was observed that passengers coming by bus to board flights had to either trudge a long distance to the airport hauling heavy luggage or were at the mercy of taxi drivers who fleeced them by charging exhorbitant prices to take them to the airport premises. The new bus service is expected to negate this unnecessary hassle.
