Detention order for three suspects

Panadura Acting Magistrate Ramani de Seram yesterday ordered the Bandaragama Police to detain and question the three suspects arrested by the Western Province Special Investigation Unit with a haul of heroin drugs and 10 firearms.

The suspects were produced before the Panadura Acting Magistrate on Thursday evening by the Western Province Crime Investigations Bureau officials with a ‘B’ report.

An anti narcotic Police team on Thursday morning arrested two women with a haul of 192 Kilograms of heroin and 10 automatic pistols and ammunition exposing what seemed to have been major underworld drug and weapons distribution operation.

The Police estimate the value of the heroin haul at around Rs. 1,920 million on the basis of the current market value for a kilo of heroin at around Rs.10 million. Three suspects, including the two women were arrested in this connection.
