All thermal scanners at BIA working - State Minister

The government yesterday refuted rumours spread by various parties that two scanners installed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake to identify passengers with high body temperature having gone out of order, as false.

Addressing the media at the Information and Communication Technology yesterday, Information and Communication Technology State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane said

three thermal scanners have been installed at the BIA to identify persons running a temperature and another scanner ready for use in an emergency.

The State Minister said the public need not panic since the government is taking all necessary measures to prevent the spreading of the virus.
