Application for driving licence medical test goes online today

The online system introduced by the National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI) for driving licence applicants to make appointments for medical tests will be in effect from today (27).

The system is available on the NTMI official web page www.ntmi.lk. Applicants are required to provide details requested and will be informed of the date and the time of the appointment via an SMS.

The system had been subjected to several test operations last week and they have been successful.

According to the Transport Ministry, a mobile app will also be introduced within the next two weeks for the same purpose.

Following the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the new system was introduced by the NTMI on the direction of Passenger Transport Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.

It is expected that the new system would ease the prevailing congestion at the NTMI premises in Nugegoda and facilitate the applicants from the outstations who previously had to travel to Colombo for this purpose.
