Nugegoda Joes enter under 13 third round

A fine bowling spell of 7 for 27 by the captain Sithila Tissera who bowls right arm leg spin guided his alma mater St. Joseph’s College, Nugegoda to beat Nakano International school in their inter-school under 13 division three tournament second round cricket match on first innings by 111 runs played at Bandaragama. By virtue of this victory Nugegoda Joes have booked a berth in the third round.

Batting first Joes declared at 207 for 4 with Aken de Alwis scoring 62 runs and in reply Nakano International were bowled out for 96 runs and following on at stumps they did much better to score 102 for 1 with Mohamed Asjed unbeaten on 69 runs.

Joes are captained by Sithila Tissera and so far he has taken 37 wickets and the vice captain Anjana Logus has scored 273 runs at an average of 68.3.

They are coached by Ranga Gamanpila and his deputy is Asanka Buddhika. The Principal Rev. Bro. Sunanda Alwis and all the other officials and the parents have been very supportive during the entire process.
