Committee appointed to probe misconduct at bus depots

A special investigative committee has been appointed to probe the various malpractices that had allegedly taken place at Sri Lanka Transport Board and its island wide bus depots for many years.

The Committee will also investigate allegations of misconduct leveled against the Sri Lanka Transportation Board by the public.

Passenger Transport Management, Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera  has advised Ministry Secretary Gamini Senevirathne to appoint the committee and handover the final Committee report to him within two weeks following an extensive investigation of all allegations and complaints received against SLTB and bus depots.

Accordingly, Secretary to the Ministry has appointed a four-member committee led by Passenger Transport Management Ministry Additional Secretary of Planning Tilakaratne Banda. The other members are Senior Assistant Secretary Naomi Jayawardena, Legal Officer Priyanthi Gunasekera, and Internal Audit Officer V.K.H. Kolitha.
