Dharma Gunasinghe passes away

Renowned educationist and former School Principal B.A.D. (Dharma) Gunasinghe passed away yesyerday at the age of 90.

Gunasinghe who entered the teaching service as a teacher attached to Richmond College, Galle, later joined Colombo Nalanda College as a trained science teacher in 1958.

Thereafter, he functioned as head teacher of Nalanda College Junior School. Subsequently, he took over as Nalanda College Principal and continued in this post until his retirement from government service.

He was also a member of the Sarvodaya Movement and functioned as Treasurer and Chief Executive of the Sarvodaya Trust Fund.

After his retirement from government service, he was actively engaged in voluntary social service for a long time. His remains will lie at the Colombo Jayaratne Funeral Parlour today.

The remains will be taken to Colombo Nalanda College premises tomorrow (24) for the students, staff and past pupils to pay their respects.

Following religious rites at the school premises, the funeral will take place at the Borella Cemetery the same afternoon.
