Co-government spokesperson and State Minister for Investment Promotion Keheliya Rambukwella said that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been able to turn around the country on a path to prosperity within 72 days of being in power.

"It has been a little over two months since President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was sworn in, but the effect of the changes that have been enacted thus far has had far reaching effects," he said adding that the election has heralded in a new path for prosperity.

Detailing some of the accomplishments of the government thus far, the Minister said the government has resumed the Special Development Project which was halted in 2015, implemented livelihood program targeting poverty stricken families, provided jobs to unemployed graduates, lowered taxes and removed many other levies imposed on sectors like telecommunications.

"Some of these state institutions such as the RMV was riddled with corrupt practices that ordinary citizens were constantly hassled. The President personally visited some of these places to see that citizens are provided with a hassle free service free from corrupt practices," he said.
