Decision to call for Education ministry report on “Hathe Ape Potha"

The Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education and Human Resources Development Gender met yesterday in the Parliament to take a decision regarding the controversial Grade 7 textbook, "Hathe Ape Potha", on sex education.

During the discussion, the committee directed the Ministry of Education to submit a comprehensive report within a month on the “Hathe Ape Potha” school book developed to educate children.

And it is also revealed 350,000 copies of the book were printed and Government was able to retrieve 25,000 copies of what has been distributed.
