Higher Education, Information, Technology and Innovation Minister Dr.Bandula Gunawardena yesterday said that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa who was silent when Cabinet approval was granted for the signing of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Agreement,is trying to become a hero now by making various allegations against the government.

“The government will not sign any agreement which is detrimental to the country and the people,” he said.

Dr. Gunawardena said that no agreement is signed without keeping the people and the country informed.

The Minister was speaking at a meeting with heads of electronic media at Temple Trees yesterday.

He said the Opposition Leader has not uttered a single world against the MCC agreement. “We worked hard to prevent the signing of this agreement,” he said.
