Internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan-British concert composer-pianist as well as musicologist, linguist and record producer, Dr Tanya Ekanayaka gave a solo recital of her own works for solo piano to a highly appreciative audience in Chengdu City, China, on December 28.
She also engaged in music-welfare activities over the ensuing day to help promote music in China. Dr Ekanayaka’s recital tour was organised by four leading Chinese organisations affiliated to the Government of China, one of them being the South Asian Standardisation Research Centre of Chengdu led by Dr Zhuang.
The Sri Lankan chapter of the International Business Council also helped co-ordinate the events which were partly sponsored by the Shineco Zhong Hemp Group Co. Ltd.
The recital tour concluded with Dr Ekanayaka’s appointment as Ambassador of Culture Exchange between China and Sri Lanka by the Sichuan Provincial Council for Promotion of International Cooperation and Investment of China on December 30, 2019.
