Six hospitalised in clash near Menik Ganga

Six residents of Sella Kataragama have been admitted to the Kataragama Hospital after they were attacked by a group of youth.

The youth have visited Sella Kataragama from Padukka and was bathing in the Menik Ganga naked. They have been advised by a bathing woman of the area not to bathe in the river inappropriately since children and women were also bathing. This has resulted in a heated argument between the two parties and eventually to the attack.

Kataragama police arrived at the location on a tip off and have arrested 34 persons in the group. Many of them were drunk at the time of the arrest.

Five persons and one woman who have been injured in the attack were admitted to the Kataragama Hospital and later to the Hambantota Base Hospital, police said.
