IFAC President to inaugurate CMA – Sri Lanka Conference

The President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Dr. In-Ki Joo will be the Keynote Speaker at the CMA – Sri Lanka Conference on ‘Financial and Cost & Management Accounting for Development of SMEs’ on January 24 at Taj Samudra from 8.30am to 5.00pm.

This conference will be hosted by the Institute of Certified Management of Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA-Sri Lanka).

He will also inaugurate the conference and deliver the Key Note Address on the theme ‘Financial and Cost & Management Accounting for Development of SMEs’ a topic of great importance for the development of the economy in Sri Lanka.

The Special Guest of Honor will be , Ajith Nivard Cabraal Prime Minister’s Senior Advisor on Economic Affairs and former Governor of Central Bank of Sri Lanka will deliver the address on ‘The Role of Government in Promoting SME Development’ and the welcome address will be delivered by the President of CMA – Sri Lanka, Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala.

IFAC Global Survey in 150 countries on the Small and Medium Practitioners (SMPs) has shown that accounting professionals are playing a major role to assist the SME sector by the use of Technology, Financial and Management Accounting Consultancy, Tax and Advisory Services.

Senior Accountants, Government & Chamber Officials, Successful SMEs, Consultants and Bankers will address the Conference.

The conference would cover the following areas:

Sources of Finance for small business, Working Capital and Cash Flow Management, Costing and Pricing of Products and services, Taxation and incentives, Use of technology for business success, Role of SMPs in providing consultancy services to SMEs, Preparation of Accounts as per IFRS standards and Integrated reporting for the SME sector.

Panel discussion with Bankers, Government Authorities successful SME companies will follow.
