The body of a Healthcare Science student from the Eastern University was found Tuesday evening in a waterway in Karaiyakantivu, Vavunathivu. The deceased has been identified as Seenithamby Mohanraj, a 21-year-old resident of Agarapatana, Talawakelle.
Mohanraj had been reported missing from the university hostel last Saturday. Police suspect that a love affair is likely behind his death.
Investigations are continuing.
