Trinity cricket going great guns this season

Five wins in six outings, the recent head-to-head figures show Trinity College have done well in the inter school cricket season. One game was drawn. With the players in red-hot form and sitting pretty on top of the Kandy schools cricket, they have beaten St. Servatius Matara, St. Josephs Wennapuwa, Richmond, Lumbini, Zahira and drew with St. Thomas Matara.

Rest of the fixtures are St. Josephs College at Darley Road (17–18), Wesley College at Campbell Park (24-25), Ananda College in Colombo (31-Feb. 1), St. Sylvester’s College at Asgiriya (Feb 7-8), 15th annual old boys match at Asgiriya, S. Thomas College at Asgiriya (Feb 20-21), Royal College at Asgiriya (Feb 28-29), big match against St. Anthony’s College at Asgiriya (March 14-15), the 104th Kandy Battle of the Blues contested for the John Halangoda memorial trophy which was introduced in 2005 in memory of the former Trinity College cricketer and coach who later became the coach of St. Anthony’s College and guided them to a win in 1948. and March 21 is the one day against St. Anthony’s College at Katugastota which is the 40th one-day encounter played for the Richard Aluwihare trophy.

They are sure to keep the momentum going. The side looks extremely balanced in all the departments and with seasoned campaigners. As far as bowling is concerned, Trinity looks like a well-oiled unit with pace bowlers in good form. The spin wing is also extremely well-balanced. Congratulations should go to Kavinda Jayasuriya for continuing on as the head coach since 2015. He is a level II coach, and has experience in coaching with Kandy Youth SC, Kandy CC and OTSC.

The officials are Kavinda Jayasuirya (Head Coach), Naveen Ekanayake and Lahiru Sandakelum (Assistant Coaches), Tharaka Kalpa (Trainer), Lasantha Bandara (Physio), Dhammika Kulatunge (MIC) and Shane de Silva (Prefect of Games).
