‘Our dreams shattered’

The wife of Air Force Sergeant Dikwellavithanage Chaminda Kumara (38), who died in the recent aircraft crash in Haputale on January 3, said that her expectation and dreams shattered with the death of her husband.

Kalawana Koswattage Iresha Maduwanthi (36) and her two children said that they got married after a love affair. She said Chaminda was loving husband and father. “We were to admit our son to a school for grade one this year. On the day of the incident, he left home saying his son that he will bring books and stationery for him to admit him to school,” she wailed.

She said that she never expected her husband to come home in a coffin. “But tragedy struck him and our family and now I am left here alone to battle the life,” she said.
