Paddy cultivations in Ampara have been affected by brown plant hopper, neck blast and fungal diseases, farmers said.

The harvesting of paddy for the Maha 2019/20 season has begun now but many of the farmers complain low harvests due to various diseases that affected their paddy fields heavily.

They said that after the rains, the climate in the area has changed abruptly spreading pests and crop diseases throughout the area.
