Ministers’ certain privileges cannot be condoned – Amaraweera

Passenger Transport, Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that certain privileges that parliamentarians and ministers enjoy cannot be condoned.

He was addressing the gathering after distributing school books and stationery to needy students at the Nonagama Cultural Centre in Ambalantota.

The Minister said he had never asked for liquor permits, filling station ownership, sand permits and bus route permits. “I never solicited bribes and safeguarded the trust of the people of Hambantota,” he said. “Children are an asset, so we must create them a prosperous country where they could live without being burdens for their elders.

“A massive transformation in the educational sector has commenced to convert the children to an educated generation to take over the country’s future,” the Minister said. He said the loans that the country had to pay back in 2020 exceeds the income. “President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will lead the country to prosperity, peace and reconciliation,” the Minister said.
