New political party registrations by month’s end

The registration of new political parties will be undertaken at the end of this month, a spokesman from the Election Commission said. He added that several people have already forwarded their applications.

The spokesman also said that at present, there are 70 registered political parties in the country.

Furthermore, several existing parties have failed to submit audited reports of their accounts, he said, adding that it could lead to the cancellation of their parties’ registrations.
