D.M. Jayaratne’s Vote of Condolence to be taken this Thursday

The Vote of Condolence on late D.M. Jayaratne, ex-member of Parliament and a former Prime Minister, will be taken up in Parliament on Thursday.

The Leaders of the political parties who met on January 3 has agreed to take up the Condolence Motion from 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Former Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne passed away on November 19, last year, at the age of 88. His remains were brought to Parliament for final respects on November 22.

A founding member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, late Jayaratne was first elected to Parliament in 1970. He was a veteran politician who was Prime Minister from 2010 to 2015.
