53 malaria cases in SL last year

Fifty-three malaria patients were detected in Sri Lanka last year, and the majority of them were found to have toured India and Africa.

In 2018, malaria patient numbers in the country stood at 47.

Sri Lankans have been warned to take preventive treatment for malaria when touring abroad, but they have not followed the advice, Anti-Malaria Campaign Director Dr. Prasad Ranaweera said.
