Over 140 kidney patients identified in Polpithigama last year

One hundred and forty-three (143) kidney patients have been reported from the Polpithigama Medical Officer of Health (MOH) division during last year, Kurunegala District Director of Health Services Dr. Pramitha Shanthilatha said.

These facts were revealed at the monthly meeting of the Kurunegala District Coordinating Committee held at the auditorium of the District Secretariat. Dr. Shanthilatha said kidney disease cannot be completely cured, but it is possible to reduce the risk by using proper medication and avoiding risk factors while correcting individual behavioural patterns.

A large number of kidney patients have been registered at the Kidney Disease Prevention and Treatment Centre at the Nikawewa Divisional Hospital in Polpithigama.
