Brilliant century by Tharindu

Sixteen year old all rounder Tharindu Amerasinghe of Prince of Wales College scored a brilliant 144 runs in their inter school first eleven cricket match against St. Anthony’s College Kandy worked off at Moratuwa. His brilliant ton was of no avail as the fixture ended in a draw.

Tharindu who bats left hand and bowls off spin opens batting for his alma mater and hit eighteen fours and two sixes and occupied the crease for 114 minutes and faced 228 balls.

They are coached by former Vidyalian Lucky Rogers Fernando. At the last annual prize giving Tharindu was adjudged as the best player of the under 15 category and received the Ryle de Soysa trophy

Batting first Cambrians declared at 318 for 9 with Pasindu Pathum scoring with 63 runs and in reply Anthonians made 246 runs with Mohamed Kameel making the top score of 67 runs. At Stumps Cambrians were 26 for no loss.
