A carcass of a blue whale was found at Nilwella beach in Dikwella last Friday (3) morning. The blue whale was 58 feet long and is suspected to have died after being hit by a ship. The carcass has been floating in the sea for several days, and its stench affected areas in the vicinity of the beach. The Kalametiya Wildlife office carried out investigations on the carcass. It was then separated into smaller parts and buried by the workers of Kalametiya Pradeshiya Sabha. Dikwella Spl. Corr.
