State Ministers unhappy with police inaction

Following the arrest of UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake, State Ministers Shehan Semasinghe and Kanchana Wijesekara questioned the police inaction and raised doubts as to why attention was not directed towards major investigations.

“The President and government are on the right track, but sadly the police and investigations are on the wrong track. There are multiple members with clear evidence of misusing public funds and corruption that the police and Attorney General’s Department can go after. I do not agree with the police actions,” Tea Industry Development State Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said in a Tweet.

Semasinghe addressing a press conference yesterday expressed his dissatisfaction over police inaction and raised doubts as to whether there is any sinister motive to embarrass the government.
