Hemasiri, Pujith further remanded

Former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara who were arrested on charges of criminal negligence and failure to prevent or minimize the damage caused due to the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, were yesterday further remanded till January 20 by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage. Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appearing on behalf of the Attorney General informed court that the Criminal Investigation Department recorded statements from former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and Minister Ruwan Wijewardene pertaining to the Easter Sunday bomb attacks. DSG Dileepa Peiris also stated that the CID would record statements from former Minister Azath Salley and M.L.A.M.Hizbullah regarding the incident.

DSG Dileepa Peiris further stated that former President Maithripala Sirisena had informed the CID that he will provide his statement before the CID today or tomorrow.

IGP Pujith Jayasundara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando are charged with criminal negligence, murder and failure to prevent or at least minimize damages, caused by the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

The Magistrate fixed further inquiries into the matter for January 20.

Former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara, who were arrested on charges of criminal negligence and the failure to prevent or minimise the damage caused in the Easter Sunday terrorist attack, were today further remanded till January 22 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage.
