People’s aspirations will be fulfilled: Prime Minister

Highlighting that the majority of projects initiated by the previous regime had come to standstill, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the new government would see that the nation’s aspirations are fulfilled.

He was addressing a recent daham hamuwa held at the Vajiragiri Vihara in Tangalle, which was followed by a distribution of nutrition packs for pregnant mothers.

“The previous government’s halted projects will be completed soon, and it will provide jobs for over 100,000 persons. Relief will come to those who have been left debt-ridden by the previous government,” the Prime Minister said.

“When the government wins the next general election, a stable Parliament could be established to see the needs of the public. Relief packs worth Rs.3,600 each would also be provided to needy families and Samurdhi beneficiaries every month,” he added.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa also participated in special prayers conducted at the Kataragama Kiriwehera Raja Maha Viharaya and the Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya to mark the New Year.

He received blessings from Kataragama Kiriwehera Raja Maha Viharaya Chief Incumbent Ven. Kobawaka Damminda Thera and Ruhunu Magampattu Chief Adikarana Sanghanayaka and Kataragama Abinawaramaya Chief Incumbent Ven. Kapugama Saranatissa Thera.
