Relief period until Jan 15 to stop playing jarring music, videos in buses

Passenger Transport, Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday said that a relief period will be given until January 15 for private and SLTB bus crew to stop playing irritating music and videos in buses.

They can buy the approved package of songs from the National Transport Commission (NTC) in this duration. “Many music videos and songs played in buses are causing great inconvenience to the commuters, especially for children. The NTC has the right to take legal action against bus drivers and conductors based on public complaints. Passengers are requested to call hotline 1955 to lodge complaints in this regard,” he said.
