Surpassing the origin

‘Frozen 2’ has surpassed the original movie’s US box-office earnings and we can’t ‘let it go’.

The first film was already one of the biggest hypes of the decade, but it looks like part two has proven to be a lot more popular than the 2013 movie.

The first ‘Frozen’ made $400.7 million (£306.3 million) at the box office in the USA, but now Frozen 2 has exceeded our expectations as it has already gone past the $410.7 million (£314 million) mark at the box office.

Not only did it surpass the mark, but the popular children’s movie has become the seventh highest-grossing animated film of all time, with Disney predicting that it may soon enter the top five.

It’s also the third highest-grossing of the year. That’s some big numbers for a 5-foot 4 talking snowman (Josh Gad), who follows Elsa (Idina Menzel), Anna (Kristen Bell) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) around.

Worldwide, ‘Frozen 2’ was just as loved as it raked in $1.16 billion (£886.8 million) in total.
