The government will take action to issue medical certificates through government hospitals for those obtaining driving licences and renewing light vehicle licences.
The government has taken this decision on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s instructions.
Medical certificates were only issued through the Motor Traffic Department’s medical office that created a hassle.The government will take action to issue medical certificates through government hospitals to increase efficiency.
Apart from the medical certificate for heavy vehicles, all the other medical certificates will be issued through all government hospitals and divisional hospitals, Transport Services Management State Minister Dilum Amunugama said.Addressing a press briefing at SLPP office at Battaramulla he said that certificates will be issued at the Motor Traffic Department.
He said an atmosphere will be created where the public will prefer to travel in public transport instead of personal vehicles. The situation will be created not only in Colombo suburbs but in the whole country.
He said that all the facts mentioned regarding transport services management in the manifesto will soon be implemented for an efficient transport service.
