Fisheries and Aquatic Affairs Minister Douglas Devananda has pledged to discuss the issues surrounding missing persons with the President and the Prime Minister.

He made this statement during a recent meeting held with the relatives of missing persons and other civil society organisations at the Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) Office in Jaffna.

Relatives of missing persons met Minister Devananda and stated that they had tried to find a solution to the issue during the past five years.

They added that about 19,000 persons had gone missing during the war, and that their details had been given to the government.
