Don’t categorise ‘Chhapaak’ as women-centric film

The recent trailer release has got everyone wide eyed in anticipation for it to hit the big screens, and though ‘Chhapaak’ tells the true story of a female acid attack survivor, director Meghna Gulzar has made it clear, that this is not a woman-centric film.

“I have a request that do not categorise ‘Chhapaak’ as women-centric film. My stories do have stronger female characters, unlike our conventional films,” the film maker stated.

Talking about her film maker process, Gulzar explained how she focuses more on the story than the genre or commercial gain of a project.

“I tell a story with as much honesty and authenticity as possible, and whether or not it’ll be a commercial film is not in my hands. Nobody sets out to make a failure or a flop film.

We all want our films to do well. I just want to work with absolute honesty,” she said.

Set to release on January 10, ‘Chhapaak’ also stars Vikrant Massey.
