Seventy-one candidates’ A/L results suspended – Exams Commissioner

The results of 71 candidates who violated the Examinations Act in the Advanced Level Examination 2019 were suspended. Of the 71 candidates, a few candidates were found guilty of using banned electronic equipment.

Preliminary investigations have been conducted in this regard and further investigations are continuing, Examinations Commissioner General Sanath Pujitha said.

No one is allowed to use technological peripherals at examinations conducted by the Examinations Department as per the Examination Act, and such incidents will be considered as violation of examination rules, Examinations Department sources said.

Electronic or high-tech devises such as smart watches, smart phones, calculators or any form of communication devises are banned in examination halls. Therefore, candidates of all examinations conducted by the Examinations Department are strongly advised not to bring such peripherals to the examination centres.

The result of candidates who violate the rules of the Examination Act will be suspended, the Examinations Commissioner said.
