Rapiscan restrained for defaulting on payments

The Colombo Commercial High Court has issued a restraining order against an American company for deliberately defaulting payments for the mounted scanner set up at the Colombo Port Customs belonging to the Sri Lankan subcontractor.

American company Rapiscan Systems Pte (ltd) registered in Singapore has reportedly been working on this project with the intervention of a powerful government minister. All construction work had been done by a sub-contractor in Sri Lanka. However, as all the work had been completed, the Sri Lankan subcontractor filed a case against the American company in court as the company had deliberately defaulted on the payments due to the subcontractor. Accordingly, The Colombo High Court has issued a restraining order against Rapiscan Systems Pte (Ltd) last Monday.
