Sharing Christmas love

Philanthropists in Moratuwa flocked recently at the Holy Emmanual Parish Hall to entertain around 55 cancer patients of Moratuwa. A grand Christmas party was organized for the 71st time.

The famous singers of the Moratuwa Arts Forum and little children of the Neluka Dance Academy performed to amuse the patients as well as Nihal the one man orchestra.

Tyronne Fernando Foundation loaded the patients with big bags of goodies under the supervision of Expo 80 Secretary, Indraneela Fernando. She requested the gathered to stretch their hands towards needy, without considering their nationality, religion, class or caste.

Each patient was given a cash gift by the Cancer Society including new clothes and variety of food items to gain the appetite for the patients. The restaurants in the town also sent food parcels and drinks to the patients. Toffees and chocolates were flooding on tables for the delight of the little patients. There were `baila’ dance competitions and many more games for the participants. Also school bags and stationery were distributed for little ones.

Singing of carols ushered the Christmas feelings which was made more joyous with the arrival of Santa Clause.

The function was held under the purview of Farina Dole, the Most Outstanding Chairperson in the Lions District Cabinet and the Honorary President of the Cancer Society of Moratuwa and her committee.

The house of Chitra Peiris of No. 4, Mendis Avenue, Moratuwa is always open to register a new cancer patient who needs help.
