A pangolin caught in a fishing net in the Kalpitiya Lagoon was handed over to the Wildlife Conservation Department, recently.
The creature is a two-feet-long male and is suspected to have been washed away by floods into the lagoon.
Wildlife Officer M.K. Moratenna said that the pangolin is in sound health, and that it is to be released to the Wilpattu National Park soon.
