Technical and Vocational training for 750,000 jobless school leavers

The Government intends to enroll about 750,000 jobless school leavers in 2020 to follow courses at Technical and Vocational training institutions countrywide.

The students who have passed the G.C.E.(O.L.) and (A.L.) Examinations are to be admitted to the above state-run institutions as per their personal wishes and choices.

“There are more than enough lucrative job opportunities locally and globally now for skilled labour,” said Kurunegala District Senior Divisional Secretary W.E.Jayathilake at a meeting of Grama Niladharies of the Kurunegala District held on Tuesday in Bingiriya.

“The participants of these courses are to be paid an allowance by the Government during their training period,” Jayathilake added.
