CBL sponsors MCA ‘D’ division 40 over League

Pioneer food manufacturer, Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL Group), who won accolades at Best Corporate Citizen Awards 2018 is the new sponsor for the MCA ‘D’ division 40 over League Tournament 2020.

The tournament will be conducted with 14 teams, pooled into 02 groups which got under way on 07th and 08th December 2019, contested for the brand new ‘CBL Munchee Biscuits’ Trophy.

The teams vying for CBL Munchee Biscuits Trophy are :

Group ‘A’ – Colombo Dockyard, Nawaloka Hospitals, MAS Bodyline, Maliban Biscuits, Airport & Aviation Services, Hirdaramani Group and Mode Engineering.

Group ‘B’ – Hemas Group, David Pieris Motor Co., Ansell Lanka, NDB Bank, Delmage Group, Central Finance and Melwire Rolling.

Mode Engineering is making their debut at MCA Cricket.

Last Season, DFCC Bank emerged as the winner, beating Central Finance by 03 wickets, in the final played on 23rd February 2019 at the MCA Grounds. The tournament will be conducted in 02 stages consisting a total of 49 matches including the final.

The 1st Stage – The ‘league’, consisting 42 matches commenced on 07th December and will continue up to 26th January 2020.

The 2nd stage – the ‘Knock-out’ consisting seven matches will be conducted on 01st, 02nd February (quarter finals), 09th February (semifinals) and 15th February (final).

The 49 matches are spread around, DS Senanayake, Army Panagoda, Army Mattegoda, St. Benedict’s College Kotahena, St. Joseph’s College, Darley Road, Central College, Veyangoda, Wesley College Campbell Park, NSCA Ratmalana and MCA Grounds.

Special Awards on offer are: for the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Final and Man of the Series.

All matches will be officiated by MCA appointed Match Referee, on the field Umpires are assigned by the Association of Professional Cricket Umpires (APCU) and the score board Scorers assigned by Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers.

The official match ball : Matches up to the final will be played with the Royal Malik / The World of Cricket – Red Ball with the MCA Logo.
