It has been revealed that the Education Ministry has issued 427 illegal letters to enroll students in all grades at popular schools across the country during pre-election and post-election periods violating election rules and regulations and the Constitution.
Having uncovered this unlawful act, Education Minister Dullas Allahapperuma has instructed the Ministry’s Special Investigation Officers to furnish a detailed report promptly in this regard.
According to Education Ministry sources, these letters have been issued during the period October 7 to November 26 to enroll students in Grades 1 to 12. The sources said that certain letters contained fake signatures of Education Ministry secretaries. Therefore, the Minister has instructed that this fraud be investigated and that a detailed report should be forwarded in three weeks.
