Political consultations in Cairo next week:

Egyptian President Al Sisi has extended greetings to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on winning the trust of the Sri Lankan people.

The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Colombo in a congratulatory letter released yesterday said President Al Sisi wished the president much success in this new position as well as the people of Sri Lanka. He referred to the diplomatic relations which dates back to 1957 adding that Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka.

“The first round of bilateral political consultations between the Foreign Affairs Ministries of Egypt and Sri Lanka is due to take place in Cairo on December 12,” he noted in a statement. “This will open wider horizons for mutual cooperation and coordination in various fields for the benefit of both nations.”
