APHNH congratulates President, newly formed Government

The Association of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes (APHNH) while congratulating President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on his impressive victory at the elections, said it was looking forwards to collaborating with the new administration towards the healthcare agenda of Sri Lanka.

“On behalf of the Association of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes, I wish to congratulate President Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Minister of Health, Pavithra Wanniarachchi and wish them success in all their endeavours.

We also look forward towards working closely with the newly formed government on policies that would strengthen the health infrastructure of our country, in particular President Rajapaksa’s vision of health first and mitigating the incidence of Non Communicable Diseases,” said Dr Lakith Peiris, President of APHNH.

With over 200 private hospitals and nursing homes around the country, private healthcare has been playing a complimentary role in the public sector health in Sri Lanka, particularly in bringing in new technologies and outstanding clinical outcomes. By providing super speciality, tertiary care, many of these hospitals fill a gap and afford a choice to the patient.

“Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes have been playing a key role in ensuring that patients are empowered with personal choice and rapid access to hospital care of the highest quality in our country and we are committed to working with the new Government towards realizing our Nations’ collective vision of putting patients at the center of all what we do. We look forward to collaborating with the Government on policies that impact the industry and to this end, our focus would be on setting benchmarks and providing the best in healthcare, within a strong but balanced regulatory regime.

“We at APHNH, remain committed to charting the course in a joint endeavour, with the Government in addressing the healthcare concerns of this nation, where every citizen has access to quality healthcare,” the statement quoted.
