Swiss Embassy incident:

Truth will be revealed soon - PM

The story behind the abduction of a local staffer attached to the Swiss embassy in Colombo will be revealed once the CCTV camera footage fixed near the Japanese Embassy is scrutinised, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said.

He stated this to media after participating in an alms-giving held in Kandy yesterday.

The Premier said almost all CCTV footage in the adjacent area of the Swiss Embassy had been checked by yesterday and only the cameras in the area adjacent to the Japanese Embassy are yet to be scrutinised.

Investigations into the matter are continuing and truth behind the incident will be revealed to the country soon, Rajapaksa said. Responding to a question by journalists, he said the government has not informed the police to remove garbage in their respective areas as claimed by the some parties.

“It is the duty of the Environment Police to look into the cleanliness of their respective areas and take action in that regard in coordination with Local Governemnt”, he added.
