Public field officers’ political rights will be protected – Janaka

Political rights of field officers such as Samurdhi, agriculture assistants and others should be protected.

The previous regime denied them their political rights and this government will protect their rights, Home Affairs, Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon said.

He was addressing a media briefing after participating in a religious observance at the Dambulla rock temple on Saturday.

The Minister further said a discussion was held at the recently held first cabinet meeting in this regard and a cabinet paper will be submitted in the next meeting. Tennakoon said that every citizen has equal rights. “Our responsibility is to protect them,” he said.

The Dambulla Base Hospital will be developed. It will not be shifted to another place as proposed by the previous regime. A plan must be formulated in this regard, the Minister said.
