Govt.servants should help build prosperous nation - CP Governor

Newly appointed Central Province Governor Attorney-at-Law Lalith U.Gamage yesterday urged all government servants in the Central Province to study properly the “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour,” the manifesto of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and help implement the President’s progressive ideas in order to build the prosperous nation.

He further said that there are allegations that Provincials Councils have become white elephants and we must strive to make them more meaningful and useful. Gamage was addressing the media after assuming duties as Central Province Governor amidst the chanting of Seth Pirith by the Maha Sangha led by the Chief Incumbent of the Sri Natha Devalaya in Kandy Ven. Gomagoda Rathanasara Thera, at the Governor’s Secretariat in Kandy yesterday.

He further said that people are fed up with the entire public service due to the fraudulent and corrupt activities of some public servants.

“Therefore, I urge public servants to make the right decisions in the country’s best interest. I would not hesitate to protect those government servants who work with dedication for the country’s progress,” he added.

“Urgent measures need to to be taken to uplift the education sector and to minimize air and noise pollution in the Central Province,” the new Central Province Governor said.

“Progressive ideas made by intellectual and experts were neglected during the past and I hope carry out future development activities with the support and consultation of specialists and intellectuals in the relevant fields,” he added.
