Case against Prasanna Ranatunga fixed for further trial

The case filed against Tourism and Aviation Minister, Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife was today fixed for further trial on December 18 by the Colombo High Court.

The case was taken up before the Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakarathne. Prosecution witness, Women Police Inspector of Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID), Shyamali Dhammika was testified before the court.

Third accused in the case, Naresh Kumar Fareek was not present in court yesterday and court was informed that he has fled abroad by the prosecution witness, Shyamali Dhammika.

The Attorney General (AG) had filed indictments against Tourism and Aviation Minister, Prasanna Ranatunga, his wife Maureen Ranatunga, and a third person, on the charge of threatening a businessman by demanding the balance sum out of Rs. 64 million.
