The involvement of the government is essential to generate job opportunities related to the tourism sector within the country, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa said.
He was addressing a public rally at Kegalle area on Thursday.
Rajapaksa said it has been his goal to create an income of USD 10 billion in the country through the development of the tourism sector.
Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa said one of the most important steps that their government would convert the Pinnawala Area in to a tourist zone.
“The zoo built by the previous government in the Pinnawala area has been destroyed by now,” he pointed out.
MP Wimal Weerawansa said Gotabaya Rajapaksa is the only leader who can defeat extremism. He also reminded that the henchmen of Zahran Hashim opened fire at a coordinating Secretary to Minister Kabir Hashim for providing tip-offs regarding the Mawanella incident.
