Commitment of Sri Lankan security forces is commendable – President

President Maithripala Sirisena expressed high appreciation to the armed forces, the police and the intelligence services for their absolute commitment to national security and regional security, stated the President’s Media Division.

The President made this statement participating at the opening ceremony of the new Army Headquarters at Akuregoda, Pelawatta this morning.

The President was welcomed by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva at the new Army Headquarters premises.

A gun salute and a military parade was held in honour of the President, following which the President unveiled the plaque and opened the new military headquarters.
